Frequently Asked Questions
What is an oil stock used for?
An oil stock is a small, sealed vessel used by Catholic clergy to carry the holy oils needed for anointing the sick, viaticum, and other pastoral ministry outside of a church setting. It is an essential item for priests and deacons who make hospital, home, or hospice visits.
What does the "OI" engraving indicate?
The "OI" stands for Oil of the Infirm, one of the holy oils blessed by the bishop at the Chrism Mass. This engraving helps clergy quickly identify the contents of the stock during ministry.
Is this oil stock compatible with standard sick call sets?
Yes. This compact oil stock is designed to fit within standard sick call sets and viaticum kits. Please verify the dimensions of your specific set before ordering if a precise fit is required.
How durable is the gold plating?
The 24K gold plating is applied over heavy gauge stainless steel, providing a durable and corrosion-resistant base. With normal care and handling, the finish is designed to maintain its appearance through regular pastoral use.
