A Pyx of Exceptional Artistry, Bearing the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes
Pyx by Koley's Inc. is one of the most artistically distinguished vessels in the Koley's collection. The wide, flat slip-on cover features a large oxidized silver relief medallion at its center depicting the Multiplication of the Loaves and Fishes -- two fish and five loaves arranged around a cross, rendered with exceptional sculptural depth and detail. This Gospel scene, in which Christ feeds five thousand from a handful of bread and fish, is one of the most profound prefigurations of the Eucharist in all of Scripture.
The body carries a 24K gold plate finish with a satin texture on the exterior and a bright finish on the interior, creating a refined, two-tone appearance that sets this pyx apart from standard polished gold designs. At 4 inches in diameter and with a 35-host capacity, this pyx is designed for use with the companion burse K-3148.
