This stunning Florentine wall art is one of three incredible Archangel plaques by Goldscheider of Vienna. Crafted from real wood, it is masterfully painted and gilded with gold leaf (containing real gold), giving a brilliant luster.
This style of Florentine wall art goes back as far as 1300s Italy. As reproductions of original works of art became more and more widespread, and the cost of buying an additional wood frame for all of them was steep, this technique emerged: that of putting the painting directly onto a wooden board and then outlining it in gleaming gold.
